2/7 Relay For Life Committee Meeting
6:00 pm Fox Hall MPR
Come check out the planning committee for this year's UML Relay For Life, which will be taking place April 28-29 on the track. This is a great way to get involved and raise money for a good cause. For more information on helping out or the relay, contact Jennifer_Wheeler@student.uml.edu.

2/7 "Bamboozled" Film Showing- Black History Month Event
6:00pm Fox Hall 501
As part of UML's celebration of Black History Month, there will be a special showing of "Bamboozled," a satire of the television industry that focuses on the issues caused by race, gender, and the desire for power and good ratings. Afterwards, join the Association for Students of African Origin in a discussion.

2/8 Campus Recreation Intramural Sign-Ups
Campus Recreation Center
Interested in a fun way to stay active? This is the last day to sign up for the 1st session of Spring semester intramurals. This semester's activities are: Ice Hockey, Basketball, Floor Hockey, Wiffleball, Squash, Racquetball, Badminton, and 9-Ball Pool. Sign up at the Rec Center!

2/8 Ballroom Dance Classes Begin
6:30-7:30pm Campus Recreation Center
Join in on the fun and learn how to dance! This seven week program teaches basic steps and a new dance each week! No experience is necessary! The program is offered by the Campus Recreation and the UML Ballroom Dance Club. Sign up today at the Campus Rec front desk!

Check out this movie about a corporate lawyer who finds love in an unexpected place. Perfect for the upcoming Valentine's Day.

2/13 "When the Levees Broke: Part 2-" Black History Month Event
1:00pm O'Leary 222
This is the second part in the four part documentary by Spike Lee. The films focus on the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Watch the personal stories of those who survived the storm and trying to rebuild their lives and the city.

2/13 Author J.D. Scrimgeour Visits

The English Dept., Sigma Tau Delta, and the Literary Society have invited J.D. Scrimgeour to come to campus to present his newest book, "Themes for English B: A Professor's Education In and Out of Class." Scrimgeour's work takes a close look at the differences between public and private education, an issue that many of us deal with at UML.

Check out the exhibit and learn more about the great African American inventors and their inventions from throughout history. The event is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and Multicultural Affairs, the Council on Diversity and Pluralism and the Association of Students of African Origin.

As part of UML's celebration of Black History Month, come find out about A.P. Tureaud, Jr.. Tureaud sued Louisiana State University in 1953 after being denied admission based on race, and remained active in the civil rights movement until his death.

2/26 "The BIG Show"

2/28 A Night of Soul- Finale of Black History Month

To end the celebrations of Black History Month on campus, the Association for Students of African Origin presents a night of poetry, music, and thoughts. Come bring your favorite poem or quote and share with everyone!
