Third annual Invention to Venture workshop hosted by the UMass Lowell. The workshop is an introduction to the process and practice of technology entrepreneurship with a focus on women in technology. Invention to Venture teaches technology entrepreneurship basics, helps build networks, and provides a framework for moving ideas forward. 04/26 10th Annual UML Student Research Symposium

For the fourth year, the annual UML Student Research Symposium will include panel presentations by students in humanities. Submissions may be on any theme pertaining to humanities. Students intested in presenting their work to a supportive audience composed fo faculty members and others students must send a title and 200-word abstract of their paper in the body of an e-mail message (no attachments) by Friday, March 30 to Prof. Todd Avery.
04/28 Relay For Life at UMass Lowell
UML Track
The Relay for Life, through the American Cancer Society, will be hosting its first annual Relay for Life here at UMass Lowell, sponsored by the Office of Student Activities & Multicultural Affairs. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

UML English Dept. Prof. Hilary Holladay will read from her book "The Dreams of Mary Rowlandson," based on the captivity narrative of a 17th-century Lancaster, Mass., woman captured by local Indians during King Phillip’s War. Paul Marion, UML’s director of community relations, will read from his collection "What is the City?" which includes his Lowell poems from the past 30 years.

The Notorious M.S.G. (not B.I.G.) is a parody/comedy indie rock band. They've been featured on MTV U and MTV 2 and are well known around the Asian community. They're really good, really funny!

Greater Lowell Peace & Justice

3/19 Greater Lowell Peace Vigil

March 19, 2004 will be the 4-year anniversary of the start of the
current War in Iraq. There will be rallies and vigils across the
country to mourn the loss of more than 3000 young men and women in
the service.

You don't have to travel to DC, not even to Boston - there will be a
Peace Vigil in Lowell on that day.

Greater Lowell for Peace and Justice (GLPJ) will be in downtown
Lowell, on Monday March 19, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We will be at
Kearney Square, at the intersection of East Merrimack and Prescott
Streets.

We hope to have a large crowd, to show that Lowell cares. Come for
the hour, come for a half hour, whatever fits your schedule. Bring
your own sign or peace flag or candle, carry one of ours, or just
stand with us.
