10/04 Kerouac Conference on Beat Literature
O’Leary 222
The Jack and Stella Kerouac Center for American Studies will host the 9th Kerouac Conference on Beat Literature. All events are free and open to the public, and no registration is required. There will be 17 speakers over two days, and they will include scholars from across the U.S., England, and Australia. Special panel at 7 p.m. on Thurs., 10/4 in the Boott Cotton Mills Museum.

Meet the Candidates for the 5th Congressional District: Patrick Murphy, Independent. Have you wondered: Why are these candidates running for Congress? What are the key issues facing the nation? Why it is important that citizens of the 5th Congressional district vote on Oct. 16? After a brief talk, the candidates will open the floor to questions.

10/04 Chancellor’s Open Forums

Chancellor Marty Meehan has scheduled two open forums for the campus community. The chancellor will provide an overview on the state of the campus and his plans for the future, followed by a question-and-answer session. Both forums are expected to last about one hour. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.

Are you interested in studying internationally? Representatives from the Centers for Learning, Academic Programs International, and Financial Aid will be present to answer your questions. In addition, students who have studied internationally will share their experiences and answer questions.

10/06 Jennifer's Run
10 a.m. Riverside Parking Lot
The UMass Lowell cross country and track and field teams will host the 8th annual Jennifer’s Run, a 5K race which benefits the Jennifer D’Amour Scholarship Foundation, in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend. The race is held in honor of Jennifer D’Amour, a member of the UML cross country and track and field teams from 1994-98, who lost her life in a car accident in May 1999. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Riverside Parking lot at Riverside and Sparks streets. The entry fee is $20 for alumni and open runners and $15 for UML students (non-varsity) and those under 18 years of age.
