04/28 Relay For Life at UMass Lowell
UML Track
The Relay for Life, through the American Cancer Society, will be hosting its first annual Relay for Life here at UMass Lowell, sponsored by the Office of Student Activities & Multicultural Affairs. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

March 19, 2004 will be the 4-year anniversary of the start of the
current War in Iraq. There will be rallies and vigils across the
country to mourn the loss of more than 3000 young men and women in
the service.

You don't have to travel to DC, not even to Boston - there will be a
Peace Vigil in Lowell on that day.

Greater Lowell for Peace and Justice (GLPJ) will be in downtown
Lowell, on Monday March 19, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We will be at
Kearney Square, at the intersection of East Merrimack and Prescott
Streets.

We hope to have a large crowd, to show that Lowell cares. Come for
the hour, come for a half hour, whatever fits your schedule. Bring
your own sign or peace flag or candle, carry one of ours, or just

This event will take place on Wednesday March 7th, 2007 at 7:30pm at the Durgin Concert Hall on South Campus. Doors open at 7pm! Now in it's third year, Mothers of Rock highlights famous female musicians, past and present; covering all genres of music and showcasing original pieces performed by the University's students. This concert is part of the Lowell Women's Week Celebration and is a charitable event, donating half of it's proceeds to Girls Incorporated of Greater Lowell. Patti Quigley, co-founder of the charitable group "Beyond the 11th" will be speaking on campus. "Beyond the 11th" is a group started by widows of men killed on the hijacked planes of 9/11. They work to provide assistance and support to widows and children in Afghanistan.
